Organisations join to bring badminton sessions

A PROJECT to get more adults playing badminton has started in Ashington.

Age UK and South East Community Badminton Network have teamed up to provide badminton coaching at the town’s leisure centre.

The sessions, coached by level 2 coach Gillian Hancock, started as a pilot in November and December last year with the success of the initial get togethers allowing the sessions to continue into 2011

The success of the sessions is down to the mix between coaching, learning and just having fun.

The project’s aims have been to get more adults playing badminton regularly, and thanks to the support of the community badminton network and Age UK, these participants are playing more badminton, learning new skills and having fun at the same time.

The sessions take place on Thursdays from 1pm to 2pm at Ashington Leisure Centre and are priced at £2.50 per person, but the first session is free.
