IT was a four-try bonus point victory for Seghill on their travels, though it must have been a close call for the match to go ahead after the heavy overnight frost as the Sedgefield pitch was hard in places.
Seghill took an early lead with a try from winger Nick Heard.
Later in the half, second row Andy Moffatt and Neil Renney, this week playing at hooker, also added tries.
The home side hit back with tries of their own as the game seemed destined to be a close one.
It was stop start for long periods, marred by penalties, conceded by both teams. Both Matthew Sherman and Jake Armstrong took on the kicking duties for Seghill.
Seghill used their substitutes to try and hold an advantage in the second half, bringing on McLean, Monaghan, Hogg and Blackburn.
However, it was a Sedgefield try, with just two minutes to go, that looked to have secured a draw for the home side.
But from the restart, Seghill pushed Sedgefield back and the defence just could not hold on to the whistle as Renney scored his second try of the game with the final move to give Seghill the victory.
