The recent Ashington Triathlon saw some great performances from Tri Northumberland members in the first major event of the season in the area.
In a field of 215, Tri Northumberland had two finishers in the top ten.
Andy Niven finished in fourth with a time of 1:01:07. In sixth place was rapidly improving Lee Tait in 1:02:52. Tom Pattison continuing his good early season form was 27th in 1:07:37.
Ryan Shiel put in a superb swim split of 5.48 to get into the top 50, in 49th place in 1:11:20. Ryan also won the Under 20 male category.
New member Ted McMinn, in his first Triathlon, finished in a very credible 73rd place in 1:15:25.
Tri Northumberland’s other competitors in the event were Chris Birch, 51st 1:11:52; Brian Shiel 54th, 1:12:43; Iain Katz 65th 1:14:27; Graeme Murray 67th 1:14:57; Iain Fenwick 73rd 1:15:18; Simon Cowdroy 83rd 1:16:31; Suzanne Davies 97th 1:18:11 and Stephen Holmes 106th 1:19:45.
