Blyth Running Club entered two senior men’s teams, a veteran and senior ladies’ team at the annual Royal Signals Road Relays which form the North Eastern Counties Championships.

Despite battling rain-soaked conditions at Hetton Lyons Park in County Durham, the event saw a record entry.

The men’s teams comprised six runners, each running a leg of 2.2 miles.

The ‘A’ team finished in 16th position with Bradley Clough running their fastest leg, while the ‘B’ team finished in 30th position with Scott Povey running their fastest leg.

The ladies finished in 23rd position with Emma James running their fastest leg while the veteran men finished in 11th position and Steve Gillespie was their fastest runner.

On the same weekend, the North Eastern Counties held their indoor championships and Blyth were again represented.

Daniel N’Jai won the bronze medal in both the Senior men’s long jump and triple jump while Alice Dungworth also won bronze in her age group 60 meters, setting a PB at the same time.

Dave Swalwell successfully defended his gold medal in the Vets Mens 60 meters sprint.
