With the new season approaching, a number of Tri Northumberland members headed over to Kirkley Hall for the Northumberland Half Marathon.

Blustery conditions made the middle section challenging as competitors faced a headwind.

First member back was Lee Tait in 48th position with a time of 1:28:11. Next was Tom Pattison who put recent injuries behind him to finish in 1:35:24 in 112th. Tony Richardson, who is training for the Outlaw Triathlon, was 154th in a time of 1:38:28.

In his first race for Tri North, Iain Fenwick came home in 193rd with a time of 1:41:50. A rapidly improving Ryan Shiel was next in 1:44:05, 219th.

Karen Singleton, who is warming up very well for her forthcoming London Marathon, came in with great time in the conditions of 1:46:45 in 268th.

Performance of the day was by Marius van Aswegen. With his 70.3 Mallorca event approaching Marius was doing his first half marathon, aiming to break two hours. Superbly paced by colleague Brian Shiel, van Aswegen finished in 1:56:45 in 398th, with Shiel on the same time 399th.
