The tapes go up on the new cycle speedway season at the Cramlington Sporting club this Sunday with a Northern League fixture between Northumbria Vikings and Edinburgh Falcons.
With the new track nearing completion it will be the first time for the public to see cycle speedway racing on the purpose built circuit.
Last season saw the Vikings compete at the sporting club on a temporary surface which although exciting at times didn’t do justice to the sport.
Edinburgh will arrive full of confidence after a good pre-season tour which saw them victorious in both friendly matches at Swindon and Birmingham.
They include Scotland international captain Mikey Hewitson and ex-Great Britain international Craig Newsome in their team.
Meanwhile the Vikings have had to make do with training matches amongst themselves in the run-up to the season.
Edinburgh just missed out on the league title last season so it looks like a tough opening match for the Northumberland club.
Tapes go up for the first race at 1pm and entry is free with plenty of car parking. Refreshments will be available from the sports centre.
