Tense finish to netball tournament

The annual Under 11 netball tournament for the Blyth and Bedlington School Sport Programme took place at Blyth Sports Centre.

Nine teams from eight schools participated in a competition divided in to two sections.

After an enjoyable afternoon of netball, four teams made it to the semi-finals after finishing winners or runners up in their sections.

Stead Lane 1 played against Stead Lane 2 in a nail biting semi-final, with the first team coming out on top by one goal. In the other game, Cambois Primary played against Meadowdale Academy, with Meadowdale making it to the final.

With the other teams spectating, a nail biting final finished in a draw, even after extra time, so the competition was decided on the result of the first round game between the two teams. Stead Lane ended up worthy winners having not lost a game all afternoon. The other schools taking part were New Delaval, Newsham, Malvins Close, Horton Grange, Cambois and St Wilfrids.
