Daryle Jobling of Ashington Boxing Club has been voted by Tyne Tees and Wear Amateur Boxing Association as the best female junior boxer for 2013-14.

The teenager, junior female national champion, made an excellent start to the season for Ashington on her three contests with two wins with only one negative result coming against Welsh boxer Aime Morrison from Port Talbot.

This reverse was a return bout after Jobling had already won the original fight.

The result of the rematch was controversial but doesn’t take away from what was a great season for Jobling, who recorded her other victory against Carla Morgan from Hartlepool Catholic Club in a second round stoppage.

She turns 15 in August and winning the award sees her succeed Commonwealth medallist Savannah Marshal.

Ashington ABC coach Alan Buller said: “Daryle is now the proud owner of the shield for the next year and we hope that she will not only go on to continue to progress but in the near future that her performances will warrant an England call-up.”
