SPECIAL gifts were presented to a member of Blyth Running Club to mark her 25th consecutive Great North Run (GNR).
Trish Goodwin ran her first in 1987, 12 months after joining Blyth, and has managed to compete in every one since.
Club chairman Kevin Freeman presented Trish with a bouquet of flowers, a GNR rain jacket and a book entitled The Great North Run; The first 25 Years, pictured, as a memento for this special occasion.
Trish is the first Blyth member to hit this milestone.
As well as the 25 GNRs, Trish has also completed the London Marathon on several memorable occasions as well as many club and local races.
Club captain Ralph Dickinson said: “Joining a club like this keeps you fit and keeps the weight off.
“You get to socialise with friends, as well as do exercise, which is great.
“We want people of all abilities to come along and join us.
“We have groups, from beginners to more experienced runners.
“We also have club handicap races so everyone can compete together.
“We meet twice a week and would love to have new members come along.
“Even if someone hasn’t trained for years, now could be the time to get back involved.”
Club nights are Monday and Wednesday at Blyth Sports Centre at 6.45pm or they can email email@example.com or ring (01670) 362668.
