Two members from the Empire School of Boxing in Blyth travelled down to Evesham in Worcestershire and boxed in the National Schools Boys/Girls Championships.
In the minor’s class was Lewis Percival, who boxed J Patel from Chorley ABC.
The bout was a good contest of skill and both boxers tried their best to win and it was Blyth’s Percival who caught the judges’ eyes with rasping combinations to win a unanimous points decision.
Next up was Savannah Stubley, boxing in class B against Paris Williams from willenhall.
As the contest started some beautiful boxing took place with both looking to land big shots.
It was Stubley who found her rhythm and began to land to head and body to take a unanimous points decision.
Empire head coach Les Welsh said: “We are so very proud of our boxers, children who could stand on street corners but instead choose our sport of boxing to travel and gain life skills.
“Both Lewis and Savannah are a credit to our club, well done to both of them and to our coaching team who produce champions year in and year out.”
