YOUNGSTERS have been getting into the Olympic spirit by improving their athletics skills at a summer camp.

More than 30 children attended the athletics holiday camp held in Morpeth with more than 25 attending a camp held in Cramlington.

The camps lasted three days and the children were coached in sprinting, learnt how to do the triple jump and long jump, and then were coached in the discus, javelin and hammer.

The final day saw a mini competition held which included running, jumping and throwing with all the children competing.

There will be another holiday camp held between Tuesday, August 14 and Thursday, August 16, at Cramlington Sporting Club and Chantry Middle School in Morpeth

Each day starts at 9am and finishes at 5pm each day. Each day costs £10 for per day and each attendee receives a goody bag.

There will be discounts if more than one child from a family attend. Minimum age is eight.

Attendance must be pre-booked.
