The series provided the chance for young athletes to participate in sprints, jumps, throws and hurdles and attracted athletes from 18 clubs from all over the North. Having accumulated a huge amount of points at the season opener in November, Blyth’s eight athletes produced a stunning series of performances to secure the team prize.

There was plenty of individual success as well. Luke Pichler was unbeaten over the season in his age group, and he produced the 2nd fastest time in the UK this year over 60m hurdles on his way to the year 7 boys championship. Abigail Huntly was also unbeaten across the series, and claimed 5 all-time series records as she took the year 6 girls crown.

The year 7 girls age group was of the very highest standard, with Millie Wilkinson taking overall 2nd place, with a sizzling 8.41s 60m being a highlight. Hannah Wilson was 3rd overall, with a massive high jump PB of 1.46m taking her to 2nd in the UK rankings.

Oscar Pichler scored a shot put PB as he took a superb 3rd place overall in the year 5 boys category. Blyth’s other juniors Frankie Foster, Sadie Parker and Joseph Anderson all produced great performances.

At the weekend 11 Blyth juniors took on the challenge of the Northern Championships in Sheffield, as they lead the North East charge.
