Tennis success for Emma

Cramlington tennis ace Emma Wilson has enjoyed another highly successful summer whilst back in the UK from her studies at the University of Arizona on an American Tennis Scholarship.

Emma, from Cramlington, claimed the Women’s Singles title at the Northumberland Open Tennis Tournament for the fourth year running, as well as winning the Mixed Doubles title.

The Northumberland Open is the most prestigious tennis tournament in the north east of England and has been in existence since 1882. Previous winners of the Women’s Singles have included past Wimbledon champions such as Ann Jones.

The annual event took place at the Northumberland Club in Jesmond, Newcastle, from August 4-10.
