Blyth rugby beaten in league opener
Blyth rugby travelled to Bishop Auckland for their first league game back in Division 2.
Blyth got the first points on the board after only six minutes when prop Barber was driven over by the forwards and McCardel added the conversion. The home side hit back hard and their big centre was causing Blyth problems which led to three unanswered tries before half time.
The second half started in much the same fashion with another three Bishop tries and it was beginning to look like Blyth would suffer a humiliating defeat, but tries from Hull and Beech plus two McCardel conversions narrowed the score to 38-21.
On Saturday Blyth entertain Ponteland with a 3pm kick-off.
