Skipper Johnny Arkle gave Ashington the lead with a penalty and fly half James Turner scored Ashington’s first try with a fabulous 50m run, Arkle adding the conversion. a convincing 24-0 lead at half-time.

Arkle extended the home sides lead in the second half when he went over for two tries, extending the advantage to 34-0 before Weeks grabbed the sixth try with a barnstorming run, again converted by Arkle.

Ashington 2nds’ game was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch, and this week the teams take a break from league rugby.
