Put into bat, the home side never got into their stride and after opening bowler Reece Carr had snapped up Jack Jessop, Cameron Steel and skipper Sean McCafferty only Jack McCarthy showed any sort of resistance with a defiant 23.  the hosts had no answer to spinner Will Bosisto - who finished the contest with 6-21  - and were bowled out for 117 inside 43 overs.

Ashington had the County Durham outfit on 34-3 with Khan, Bosisto and Carr all back in the hut – the latter falling to a stunning catch by McCafferty - but any hopes of victory were dashed as Jake Louth smashed 70 not out.
