WITH the Olympics and Paralympics just around the corner, Cramlington’s Paralympic athlete Stephen Miller paid a visit to Willowburn sports centre in Alnwick as part of Northumberland Disability Sports Festival.
Stephen went to help out with encouraging and motivating the children to take part in the sports available.
Newcastle Eagles player coach Fab Flournoy also gave his support.
He said: “Days like this give me such satisfaction, seeing so many young people doing their best at sport is something special.”
Stephen said: “Its great to see young people in the county getting an opportunity to compete in a range of high quality sporting sessions and enjoying the experience.
“I hope this festival can therefore be used as a springboard for young people to enjoy and play more sport and perhaps go on to compete at a higher level.”
The festival was helped run by a number of national governing bodies and the English Federation of Disability sport.
Franki Clarke, event organiser and local school games organiser, said: “I would like to thank North County Leisure for their generous support with providing Willowburn Leisure Centre free of charge and the young volunteers from the Duchess Community High School who all did a great job.”
