Blyth seconds travelled north to take on Berwick on what turned out to be an unpredictable wicket with the ball lifting sharply off a length above head height.
Berwick relied heavily on their top five batsmen who scored most of their runs – Ingli 32, Farish 25, G Thomson 55 not out, Shearer 21 and I Thomson 16 – in a total of 165-9.
The rest of the order mustered just four runs between them.
Pick of the Blyth attack was James Stewart, who bowled ten overs with three maidens, taking six wickets for 26 runs including a hat-trick.
Blyth’s reply was mainly down to Gill 30, O’Conner 22, Kirkup 12 and Leason 11. Extras top scored with 38 in a total of 131 all out.
