Ashington Cricket Club first XI vice-captain Scott Dunn described his side’s six wickets victory over Newcastle City as being a “good win”.
Dunn – stepping up to the mark with Greg Williams ruled out through working commitments – was impressed by all aspects of the Colliers performance.
He said: “Callum Storey and Sonu Singh both bowled quite well with big in-swingers at the start, and both they and the team took their chances when they came along as we dismissed the home side for 80.
“Batting wise, Neil Wood got us off to a decent start then Adam Nichol – who had scored 62 in a cup match in midweek – came in at number three and batted well for 24 before Matty Storey and Steve Harmison finished the game off for us.
“It was a good win. We’ve been getting off to good starts but not kicking on, and today was our best fielding performance of the season.”
