Step back in time to see Victorian mine works

Visitors to a top Northumberland venue will have the chance to take a look inside the last Victorian engine house in the county.

From now until September 1, visitors to Woodhorn Museum will be able to take a peak inside the building and see some of the workings.

As the Winding House is an historic building, it is not fully accessible and access to the winding gear involves climbing steep stairs.

The venue, which was recently chosen to host the iconic poppies sculptures, will be holding tours of the historic colliery building at 11am, 1pm, 2pm, 3pm and 4pm.

Children must be supervised at all times.

Entry to the museum is free, parking charges apply. For further information see
