Britpop stars set for gig

SPACE - pop group - band

This year looks set to be another great one for music in Blyth, with ‘90s Britpop band Space set to appear.

The band, who have sold millions of records worldwide and are known for such hits as Female Of The Species, Neighbourhood and Me And You Versus The World, among many others, will be playing at the Old Church in Blyth on May 4.

Vince Race, from Set The Scene promotion, which is organising the event, said: “We are very happy to see the band coming to the town and are sure it will be an excellent night for everyone attending.

“Our aim at Set The Scene is to bring as many big name acts to the area as possible, from many different genres of music.

“Last year, we had DJ legend Judge Jules, John Power from Cast and The La’s, Mark Morris from The Bluetones, Nigel Clark from Dodgy and punk legends Sham 69, among many others, all perform in the town.

“We have been working in the area since 2006 and really want to attract people from outside the area into the town, and in turn carry on putting on bigger and better events.”

Other big names confirmed include American guitar legend Adam Bomb, playing The Tavern in Blyth on March 16, and The Jexit, on March 24.
