POP-ROCK group McFly proved that Sunday nights can be party nights too, when they played at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle last night.
Despite Dougie having recently come out of a spell in rehab, even from the opening notes of Party Girl, it was clear they were not going to be holding anything back, and proceeded to jump around like small children on a wet afternoon for the next 90 minutes.
There is no denying that the McFly boys have had some truly amazing tracks, and the music came thick and fast with little breaks beetween tunes, with many tunes from new album Above the Noise, interspersed with some good oldies like Obviously, and the amazing All About You.
The lads – Tom, Danny, Dougie and Harry – quite obviously love every second of being on stage, and their exuberance and enthusiasm really boils over to get the crowd going.
At one stage enormouse inflatable balls with the lads’ names on were hurled into the crowd to be passed around, and as the boys belted out first single Five Colours, they used paint-ball style guns to fire T-shirts into the crowd.
This is a band that has come a long way in the seven years they have been together, but I defy any fans new or old to resist the temptation to jump along with the boys.
What started out as band to rival Busted has turned into something really great.
