As a choir gears up for its centenary performance, a new president, who has been part of the group for almost half its existence, has been appointed.
Ashington and District Male Voice Chor will be celebrating 100 years of singing this year with a special concert on May 14.
Choir member George Wade was recently awarded a long service certificate by the group for 47 years’ unbroken service, which included a long spell as the treasurer.
And at the recent AGM, George was elected to be the choir’s president.
The Centenary Celebration Concert, on Saturday, May 14, will be held at the Josephine Butler Complex in Northumberland’s Church of England Academy in Ashington.
