YOUNG singers from Blyth will be joining a Classical Brit Award-winning band on stage tomorrow.
Children from the Young Phoenix group will be joining Blake on stage at Blyth’s Phoenix Theatre to help perform classic-pop renditions of favourites including Jerusalem and Nessun Dorma.
Group director Alison Thoburn said: “We are thrilled to have been chosen to supply the choir for part of the Blake tour. The children are very excited and really looking forward to performing with the group.”
The classical foursome came up with the idea of having a local choir joining them on stage after they toured schools across the country giving performances and talks about the music industry.
Baritone Jules Knight said: “The kids really engaged with what we did and we were blown away by the talent and confidence of some of them in the mock ‘X-Factor’ auditions that we held. “With all that singing talent, we just couldn’t understand why choirs weren’t as popular as they used to be.”
The sold-out show at the Phoenix Theatre on Friday, June 10, is part of Blake’s UK Tour An Evening with Blake.
