The Salt Market Social on North Shields Fish Quay is taking place across two weekends this month.

Due to popular demand the ‘Socials’ will move from monthly to fortnightly and as Social Distancing rules relax, the capacity of the venue will jump from 220 (seated) to accommodate 400 at each session.

June’s Socials will take place from Thursday, 10 to Sunday, 13, and Thursday, June 24, to Sunday 27.

Situated in a converted factory, Salt Market Social features unique décor and street art, with a range of North East craft beers and a signature cocktail list.

Each Social has five local food traders which change for each event and the food vendors this summer include Lobo Rojo and their Mexican tacos, Chef Matei Baran, Tandoori Naan Wraps from Hullabaloo, South American flavours from Cocina Peru and more.

There is also a host of residencies from some of the North East’s most established and popular DJs, with music from Mojaxx, Night Dancing, Annie Marron, Mark Armstrong and Simon Heatherington.

Salt Market Co-Founder Simon ‘Barney’ Miller said: “We decided to open last year during the pandemic knowing that we couldn’t present the Socials to full effect but as we emerge from lockdown, we can have more attention on the music and allow more people in to get involved in the full experience we always wanted to present.

"We have been blown away by the demand and support we’ve received since opening and each time we have we’ve been fully booked so now we can get back to where we wanted to be and include even more people along the way.”

Tables are for up to eight people and as restrictions ease the venue will also cater for larger parties. Reservations can be made via https://www.resdiary.com/restaurant/saltmarketsocial.

Barney added: “We are excited for the return of the Socials and getting people back out to enjoy the North East again.

"It’s a great opportunity to come together and support fantastic local food vendors and drink suppliers – there is definitely something for everyone.”
