Two of the sponsors for the 2016 Northumberland Business Awards have spoken about their support of the event.
The awards, organised by Northeast Press, publisher of the Northumberland Gazette, Morpeth Herald and News Post Leader, and Tweeddale Press, publisher of the Berwick Advertiser, are now in their ninth year.
There are 12 different categories and the winners will be announced at a special celebration dinner at Linden Hall on Thursday, February 2.
The sponsors include Northumberland County Council, which is backing the Small Business of the Year award, and Arch – an arms-length development company established by the local authority to drive business growth and projects to boost the county’s economy .
Coun Allan Hepple, the council’s cabinet member for economic growth, said: “Growing the economy is the council’s number one priority.
“Entrepreneurs setting up as first-time businesses, sole traders, partnerships and other enterprises looking to expand on their current success all help by boosting growth through innovation and by providing new local services and products.
“We want to support and recognise the efforts of small businesses and are delighted to be sponsoring this award to highlight the huge contribution they are making in Northumberland.”
Arch is sponsoring the Innovation Award.
Its chairman, Coun Dave Ledger, said: “This category helps recognise the many achievements of the outstanding companies we have in the county and whose valuable work contributes to its economy.”
